Trinity House
20 July 2009
We return to this elegant neoclassical building tucked behind Tower Hill to tour the home of the Corporation of Trinity House, one of England’s most venerable maritime institutions that has maintained British lighthouses since the sixteenth century. We learn about its history and the work of its architect, Samuel Wyatt, while visiting the principal rooms, including the court room with its grisaille allegories, the dining room with portraits of former Masters of Trinity House, and the magnificent entrance hall and staircase where you can see The Brethren and Officers of the Corporation of Trinity House (1794), a group portrait by Gainsborough Dupont.
