St Sophia Greek Cathedral

19 February 2009

To celebrate 'Byzantium 330–1453', we visit St Sophia, the oldest surviving Greek Orthodox church in London, designed by John Oldrid Scott in 1879. We tour this elaborately decorated Byzantine-style building with Bishop Theodoritos and learn about the history of the Greek Orthodox Church in London. We also visit the church’s small museum, which contains a unique collection of Byzantine-style artefacts with Victorian London hallmarks.
