Sandham Memorial Chapel & Whitchurch Silkmill
7 September 2010
Friends Only
Designed by Lionel Pearson in the 1920s, Sandham Memorial Chapel houses a series of large-scale paintings by the English artist Stanley Spencer who was inspired by his experiences as a First
World War medical orderly and soldier. We have a short talk on the works and then time to explore independently. In the afternoon we tour Whitchurch Silkmill, which was built during the reign of George III and continues to produce high-quality silks for historic houses, interior designers and
theatrical costumes.
9am–7pm; £68 (incl. coach, coffee, lunch/wine, tea)
