Granted their first Royal Charter in 1581 by Queen Elizabeth I, the Worshipful Company of Painters has a long history with the Royal Academy with the current painting collection including works by recent RA Presidents. We tour the present Hall which dates back to 1961, after previous buildings were destroyed by fires in 1666 and 1946.
