Boundary Street, London, 1890.
We explore the domestic architectural developments in the Old Nichol, one of the East End’s most notorious slums. We learn about its redevelopment into the London County Council’s first public housing estate. Completed in 1901 and still largely extant, the Boundary Street Estate was an ambitious social experiment and remains one of the finest examples of Victorian social housing.
