Nunhead Cemetery, Southwark

3 February 2010

Consecrated in 1840, Nunhead Cemetery is possibly the least-known, but most attractive of the Victorian cemeteries established in a ring around the outskirts of London. Our guided tour includes the partially restored Anglican Chapel, a charming classical lodge, and the formal avenue of towering limes and Victorian plantings. We learn about the architecture of the cemetery, which demonstrates the contemporary tussle between the Neoclassical and the Gothic Revival schools.

11am–1pm; main entrance, Linden Grove, SE15; SOLD OUT
