By kind permission from the Earl of Radnor, Friends privately tour Longford Castle, which rarely opens to the public. The collection includes paintings by van Dyck, Claude, Teniers and Hals, together with British pictures by Reynolds and Gainsborough, as well as oriental porcelain, Brussels tapestries, and exceptional English and continental furniture. In the afternoon we visit the Salisbury and South Wiltshire Museum to see the exhibition ‘Rex Whistler – A Talent Cut Short’, which explores the work of this prominent artist.
