Kenwood House
The Iveagh Bequest & Repton Tour
15 September 2010
Friends Only
Edward Cecil Guinness, 1st Earl of Iveagh, bought Kenwood in 1925 and bequeathed the house and part of its collection to the nation upon his death in 1927. Curator Laura Holiston leads our private tour of the bequest, which includes important works by Vermeer, Gainsborough, Reynolds, Turner, Van Dyck and Rembrandt. After a break for coffee, Head Ranger Andrew Ginner shows Friends the Grade I listed estate, looking at the work done by the great landscape architect Humphrey Repton now being recreated by English Heritage.
10am–12.30pm; £20 (estate tour involves an hour of outdoor walking); Kenwood House, Hampstead Lane, NW3
