Royal Academician Jennifer Dickson leads us through the evolution of the picturesque landscape, focusing on gardens created in eighteenth-century England. Through her captivating photos and lecture, we learn how the Grand Tour and the works of artists such as Nicolas Poussin, Salvator Rosa and Claude Lorrain came to influence the ideas of the landed aristocracy and how these ideas were implemented by architects like William Kent, Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown and Henry Flitcroft.
