‘Houghton Revisited’, Norfolk

Friends Overnight Excursion

22 — 23 July 2013

This summer we visit 'Houghton Revisited', the exhibition that sees the return of 60 paintings to Houghton Hall, which were once part of the remarkable art collection of Sir Robert Walpole. Walpole sold the collection to Catherine the Great in 1779 to settle his debts and most of the works have hung in the State Hermitage in St Petersburg ever since. By special permission, we also visit Raynham Hall, home to the Marquess of Townshend and widely regarded as one of William Kent’s finest works.
