Hatfield House, Herts

Friends Only

3 July 2013

In 1611, Robert Cecil, the 1st Earl of Salisbury, built Hatfield House adjoining the site of the Old Palace of Hatfield, which was the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth I. By special arrangement, we privately tour the house and see superb examples of Jacobean craftsmanship, paintings, furniture and tapestries. Our tour also includes the gardens, where we view an exhibition of sculpture by six Royal Academicians, including Bill Woodrow and Alison Wilding. Hatfield is now home to the 7th Marquess and Marchioness of Salisbury.
