Friends Only

10 May 2012

Gorhambury HouseHome to the Earl of Verulam, Gorhambury was built in the late eighteenth century by architect Robert Taylor. The present building replaced Old Gorhambury House, home to the writer and philosopher Francis Bacon. We explore the extensive collection of paintings and books, including the Van Somer portraits of Francis Bacon. In the afternoon we visit the Grade 1 listed gardens of St Paul’s Walden Bury, the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.
