Goldsmiths

8 December 2008

The Goldsmiths’ Company is one of the Twelve Great Livery Companies of the City of London and has been responsible for hallmarking since the 1300s. Tracing its roots back to the trade guilds of the Middle Ages, the present Renaissance-style hall, designed by the architect Philip Hardwick in the 1830s, is the third on the site. During this private guided tour, Friends visit the principal rooms with their richly decorated moulded ceilings, elaborate cornices, portraits, chandeliers, silver and Le Clerc tapestries.

12–1.15pm; meet at entrance Foster Lane, London EC2; SOLD OUT
