Jennifer Dickson RA has long been fascinated by the complex culture of Turkey. In 2006 she followed the steps of Gertrude Bell and William Dalrymple to the historic cities of Sanli Urfa, Diyarbakir and Mardin, centres for Islamic architecture. Through her photography and lecture, Jennifer also leads us through the early Christian monasteries and churches of the Tur Abdin, the holy mountains of Syriac Christianity, and on to Aydinlar and the mausoleum of the famous Islamic astronomer Ibrahim Hakki. Her journey ends on the poppy-clad slopes of Cavustepe with its magnificent Urartian ruins.
