Fabulous Frocks!

19 October 2010

We exclusively visit ‘Horrockses Fashions: Off the Peg Style in the 40s and 50s’ at the Fashion and Textiles Museum with curator Dennis Nothduft. Horrockses was one of the most respected ready-to-wear labels of the 1940s and 1950s, best known for their popular full-skirted dresses worn by Queen Elizabeth II. We learn about fabric design on cotton and Horrockses Fashions’ use of designs sources including works by artists Graham Sutherland and Eduardo Paolozzi.
