Cotswolds Treasures

13 — 16 October 2009
Friends Only

From our base in the delightful market town of Tetbury, this four-day tour takes in some of the finest houses and gardens in the Cotswolds. These include Stanway, a Jacobean manor house with original furniture, tithe barn and magnificent water garden; Chavenage, a Cotswold manor house once granted to Sir Thomas Seymour by Henry VIII that has remained virtually unchanged for 400 years; and Corsham Court with its collection of Italian, Dutch and French paintings, Chippendale furniture and Capability Brown gardens.

We also take in an autumnal tour of the garden at Highgrove, home to HRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall and we visit the nearby Westonbirt Arboretum to view the stunning reds, oranges and yellows of the acers and maples.

We are extremely grateful to Ann Christopher RA who has invited us to her home and studio near Chippenham. Our tour ends with exotic Sezincote, built by Samuel Pepys Cockerell in the Neo-Mughal style in 1805–12, and which was the inspiration for the Brighton Pavilion.
