Charles Dickens’ House

17 September 2008
Sold Out

We visit the only surviving London home of Charles Dickens, housing the world’s most important collection of material relating to this great Victorian novelist. During the time he lived at the house Dickens published some of his most famous works, including Oliver Twist and Nicolas Nickleby. We privately tour the house and its collection, that includes paintings by Royal Academicians Augustus Egg and William Powell Frith, rare editions, manuscripts, and many other original items relating to Dickens. By special arrangement, Andrew Xavier, one of the leading experts on Dickens portraiture, talks exclusively to us, and shows us paintings from the archive that are not on display to the public.

6–8pm; meet at house entrance, 48 Doughty Street, London WC1
