Rubens and His Legacy
Join feminist and academic Professor Germaine Greer, disability rights advocate Dr Tom Shakespeare, artist Grayson Perry and Professor Mary Beard to find out what role visual art plays in creating and communicating body image.
The term 'Rubenesque' has defined the representation of the fuller figure in art since the Baroque period, but what role does visual art play now in creating and communicating body image? Feminist and academic Professor Germaine Greer joins sociologist and disability rights advocate Dr Tom Shakespeare and artist Grayson Perry (and his alter ego Claire) to discuss the representation of the body in the visual arts and wider society.
Professor Mary Beard, the RA’s Professor of Ancient Literature, chairs this panel.
A drinks reception follows this event and ticket holders are entitled to one complimentary drink.
