The Royal Academy of Arts is one of the UK’s foremost arts institutions, famous for its world class exhibitions including Byzantium, Genius of Rome, Van Gogh, and David Hockney. Its purpose is to be a clear, strong voice for art and artists. Its public programme promotes the creation, study and enjoyment of art to a wide range of audiences through exhibitions, education and debate.
The Exhibitions Department organises the RA’s temporary exhibitions programme, and we have an exciting opportunity for an exceptional individual to join the team as an Exhibitions Assistant, providing support to the Exhibition Managers on all logistical and organisational aspects of exhibition programming.
Calm and solution-orientated, the successful candidate plans ahead, is able to use their initiative to predict and overcomes obstacles, and maintain a flexible approach to their work. Discreet, loyal, diplomatic, friendly and approachable, this position requires someone with excellent interpersonal skills to build and sustain strong working relationships with colleagues and external organisations and individuals.
Applicants will have excellent administration skills, preferably gained in a visual arts environment. A strong attention to detail is vital, alongside computer literacy (including knowledge of databases), and well-honed organisational and logistical ability.
The successful candidate is likely to be educated to degree level, preferably in art history or related subject, and have a genuine interest in the work of the Academy.
