Content Description

He is glad Clausen agrees in the purchase of the van Eyck. He thinks that van Eyck could teach the local artists to painting meticulously without losing breadth, "the painting here is inclined to be on the sloppy side". He is sorry Rinder thought he was betraying a secret by mentioning the price. He is glad Clausen liked the Jackson Morrises. He hopes that the new member of the Academy [George Washington Lambert] will do it honour. He deservedly was second to Power in the mural competition. He discussed the strangeness of Christmas being during the hottest part of the year.
