Richard Rogers RA is one the most successful and influential architects in the world, described by the Prime Minister as ‘one of Britain’s greatest ever exporters of ideas’. Through previously unseen original material, drawings and personal items, Inside Out celebrates Rogers’ beautifully made buildings and his pioneering spirit that continues to influence social policy and all areas of design. Highlighting Rogers’ unique attention to the ethic, aesthetic and political dimensions of architecture, it invites us to question the way we think about cities and how we live in them.

Drawing from Richard Rogers' attention to the ethic, aesthetic and political dimensions of architecture, a varied evening events programme provides a forum for debate and reflection on the vital issues affecting architecture and cities today. The Soapbox provides a literal platform for key commentators from the worlds of architecture, design and art to make fresh and passionate 15-minute polemics on some of the central issues confronting architecture and cities, today and in the future. Provocative and inspiring, contentious and stimulating, audience participation is actively encouraged! Find out more
Highlights of the daytime events programme include a lecture by the exhibition curator, Jeremy Melvin, a careers talk by Ivan Harbour and Tracy Meller of Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, an introduction to the possibilities of Architecture Clubs in schools and a design workshop presentation. Design and build your own work of architecture using various kinds of materials during one of the Family Workshops run over August in collaboration with Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners. Younger visitors can also enjoy an ‘Art Detectives’ worksheet, available free at the exhibition’s entrance. Find out more
