This season the Royal Academy has teamed up with Building Design and the Architect of the Year Awards to invite some of the winners to discuss emerging trends in contemporary architecture. In the Architecture Space, artist Blue Firth is creating an installation exploring the relationship between new ideas and historic fabric. Lectures by international architects, Fernando Menis and Marcio Kogan, and a conversation with Sir Michael Hopkins RA reflecting on his distinguished career, complete our programme.

The artist, Blue Firth, leads this event exploring the roles myth, popular culture and various phenomena play in our perception of and movement through landscape. Contributors include Mark Pilkington (Strange Attractor), Andy Sharp (English Heretic) and the neurosurgeon, John Firth.
RA FORUM
Today, the mass (re)production and dissemination of images has reached a level Walter Benjamin could scarcely have imagined when he wrote his seminal 'The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction'. In this event, we discuss whether Benjamin's point still holds and what possibilities now exist for the poetic image in the ‘Age of Digital Image-Making’.
