Tony Bevan shows work in ‘Messerschmidt and Modernity’ at the Getty, LA (until 14 Oct), as well as ‘Recent Paintings’ at LA Louver, LA (6 Sep–6 Oct)

Frank Bowling's show ‘Drop, Roll, Slide, Drip: Frank Bowling’s Poured Paintings 1973-78’ is at Tate Britain (until 30 April, 2013)

‘She Lay down Deep Beneath the Sea: Tracey Emin at Turner Contemporary’ shows at the Turner Contemporary, Margate (until 23 Sep)

Peter Freeth shows prints in ‘Bite’ at the Mall Galleries, London (3–15 Sep) and ‘Images of the City’ at Monica Petzel, London (19 Sep–14 Oct) as well as at the Affordable Art Fair, London (1–4 Nov)

‘David Hockney RA: A Bigger Picture’ is at the Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao (until 30 Sep) then the Museum Ludwig, Cologne (29 Oct–4 Feb, 2013). His show ‘Northern Landscapes’ is at the Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum, Tromsø, Norway (until 30 Sep)

‘Gary Hume: Flashback’ is at Jerwood Gallery, Hastings (until 23 Sep; www.jerwoodgallery.org) and Aberdeen Art Gallery (13 Oct–19 Jan, 2013; www.aagm.co.uk).

Humphrey Ocean has been appointed the new Professor of Perspective for the RA

Fiona Rae’s solo show ‘Maybe You can live on the moon in the next century’ is at The New Art Gallery, Walsall (6 Oct–22 Dec)

A survey of over 50 of Terry Setch's works go on show at the Oriel Gallery, Mold, Wales (8 Sep–13 Oct; www.clwyd-theatr-cymru.co.uk).

Anthony Caro’s show ‘Caro: Close Up’ is at the Yale Centre for British Art, New Haven, Connecticut (right, 18 Oct–30 Dec)

John Carter shows works on paper at the John Creasey Museum in Salisbury (until 22 Sep)

Ann Christopher shows in ‘Interesting Times’ at the University of Leicester Botanic Gardens, Leicester (until 28 Oct)

Geoffrey Clarke’s show ‘Prints and Pieces’ at the Strand Gallery, Aldeburgh (6–27 Oct) coincides with the launch of Geoffrey Clarke: A Sculptor’s Prints published in October (Sansom & Company). He also shows at the Henry Moore Institute Library, Leeds (until 14 Oct)

Keith Chapman shows Robert Clatworthy’s work this autumn (24 Oct–20 Nov; www.modernsculptors.com)

Richard Deacon's exhibition ‘Beware of the Dog’ is at the Singapore Tyler Print Institute, Singapore (6 Oct–3 Nov)

Following his recent residency there Antony Gormley's solo show ‘Still Standing’ is at White Cube Hoxton Square, London (until 15 Sep). His show ‘Still Being’ is at the Central Cultural Banco de Brasil in Rio de Janeiro (until 30 Sep) and will then travel to Brasilia (20 Oct–6 Jan, 2013). His show ‘Space Station and Other Instruments’ is at Galleria Continua, Paris (until 30 Sep). He also has solo shows at the Museum of Modern Art, Hayama, Japan (until March 2013), and the Middelheim Museum, Antwerp, Belgium (29 Sep–13 Jan, 2013)

Nigel Hall has solo shows at Galerie Andres Thalmann, Zurich (3 Nov–22 Dec), Burton Art Gallery, Bideford (22 Sep–29 Oct) and at Milton Gallery, St Paul’s School, London (1–28 Nov). He also shows ‘Nigel Hall: Skulpturen im Kloster’ in Eberbach, Germany (until 15 Oct)

Anish Kapoor's show ‘Flashback’ is at Yorkshire Sculpture Park (until 4 Nov)

Phillip King's show ‘Colour in the Driver’s Seat’ is at the Speerstra Foundation, Apples, Switzerland (8 Sep–23 Dec)

Bryan Kneale’s intricate studies of animal skeletons are at the Hart Gallery, London (6–26 Sep; www.hartgallery.co.uk).

Richard Long's ‘Artist Room’ is at the Hepworth Wakefield, West Yorkshire (until 14 Oct). He also shows at Yorkshire Sculpture Park (until 14 Oct)

John Maine shows new work at Pitmedden Gardens in Aberdeenshire (until 30 Sep)

David Nash's solo exhibition is at Kew Gardens, London (until 14 April, 2013) and he also shows ‘Lines and Smudges’ at Annely Juda Fine Art, London (6 Sep–6 Oct)

‘Michael Sandle: A Celebration’ shows at Landratsamt Enzkries in Pforzheim, Germany (17 Oct–30 Nov)

Richard Wilson's work 'Hang on a minute lads, I’ve got a great idea!...' is at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill on Sea (until 1 Oct). He will make a new sculpture titled Slipstream for the new Terminal 2 at Heathrow Airport, due to open in 2014

‘Sculptor’s Drawings’ at Kings Place Gallery, London (until 12 Oct), includes work by Phyllida Barlow, Ralph Brown, Anthony Caro, Ann Christopher, Geoffrey Clarke, Ken Draper, Tracey Emin, Antony Gormley, Nigel Hall, Leonard McComb, John Maine, Dhruva Mistry, David Nash, ‘Michael Sandle, William Tucker and Alison Wilding

Architects

Will Alsop’s firm ALL Design, has designed the Neuron Pod science education centre for Queen Mary, University of London, due to be completed at the end of 2013. Alsop is also working on an extension of the Rough Luxe Hotel, in London’s Kings Cross

A monograph on David Chipperfield Architects is published in November (Thames & Hudson)

Norman Foster will redevelop Fidel Castro’s unfinished School of Ballet in Havana

Nicholas Grimshaw’s firm has been selected to modernise Duke University’s West Campus Union in Durham, North Carolina. They are also designing a new rapid transit system in Sydney, Australia

Zaha Hadid has been made a Dame for services to architecture. Her new gallery ZHA, has opened in London. Her design for Guangzhou Opera House has been awarded Best Public Project by Architectural Record magazine

Michael Manser’s practice is designing an ultra compact apartment for Vanke, China’s largest residential developer

Alan Stanton’s Sainsbury Laboratory at Cambridge Botanic Gardens has won the RIBA East Building of the Year Award 2012. The building has also been shortlisted for the 2012 Stirling Prize, as well as David Chipperfield’s Hepworth Wakefield

Chris Wilkinson's firm has designed the new Thames cable car, which links the O2 Arena to the ExCel exhibition centre in London.
