Find out more about the Royal Academy on a free tour of the John Madejski Fine Rooms. Tours last for an hour and focus on selected works from the RA Collection and also give an insight into the history of the Royal Academy and Burlington House.

The John Madejski Fine Rooms are the former state rooms of Burlington House, originally one of London’s great private town mansions. These magnificently-restored 18th-century spaces house a selection of works from the Royal Academy’s collection of British art from the last 250 years. From 10 December 2011, new displays will include paintings from the 1950s to 1980s by Carel Weight, Frederick Gore, Ruskin Spear and Richard Eurich. There is also a chance to see W.P. Frith’s Private View at the Royal Academy 1881 (on loan from the Pope Family Trust) alongside works by Lawrence Alma-Tadema, G.F. Watts and Briton Riviere.

Tours are free and last for an hour. No booking is required. Meet in the entrance hall.
