Summer Exhibition: Fine Rooms

Take a free guided tour and find out more about the history of the institution as well as seeing a special display which celebrates the work of eight Royal Academicians who sadly passed away this year: Donald Hamilton Fraser, Craigie Aitchison, Michael Kidner, Flavia Irwin, Jim Cadbury-Brown, Frederick Gore, John Craxton and Barry Flanagan. The display includes the artist's Diploma works from the Royal Academy's collection.

The John Madejski Fine Rooms are the former state rooms of Burlington House, originally one of London’s great private town mansions.

On Saturdays there is also a chance to see W. P. Frith’s Private View at the Royal Academy, 1881 (on loan from the Pope Family Trust) which is shown with paintings by Lawrence Alma-Tadema, G. F. Watts and Briton Riviere.

Tours are free and last for an hour. No booking is required. Meet in the entrance hall.
